Daniel Arencibia grew up in New Jersey and moved to Hawai’i in 2015 to earn his Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology. Dan began his career with the Our Project In Hawai’i’s Intertidal (OPIHI) program, where his team’s work in Maunalua Bay was able to show how nutrient inputs promote the growth of invasive algae. Dan has also worked as a research assistant at Kewalo Marine Laboratory. Most recently, Dan worked as an environmental scientist and project manager with the Nakupuna Companies. His main scientific interests involve studying the ways that humans influence coastal ecosystems and identifying solutions to mitigate risks to our natural resources. In his free time, Dan can usually be found outside snorkeling, hiking, or surrounded by his friends on the beach.
