At Mālama Maunalua, education and outreach is an important component of our mission. Awareness of the issues happening in Maunalua Bay is instrumental for change. People are our biggest asset in ensuring the health and survival of the Bay. Our Education and Outreach program is built around inspiring the next generation so they may become advocates for our mission, and life-long stewards for Maunalua Bay.

Tree to Sea Camp 2025
Mahalo to all of our campers and partners who joined us in the field for Tree to Sea Camp 2025!

With the help of our partners at Protect and Preserve Hawai’i, the Maunalua Fishpond Heritage Center, the Coral Resilience Lab at the Hawai’i Institute of Marine Biology, and the Division of Forestry & Wildlife at the Paikō Lagoon Wildlife Sanctuary, Mālama Maunalua organized the fourth Tree to Sea Camp for middle school students on O’ahu to experience Maunalua Bay’s science, culture, and ecosystems!
This camp brings together students, scientists, educators, and environmental community leaders to offer a unique experience learning in an outdoor environment! From mauka to makai, or from the ridge to reef, students will learn about topics in sustainability, ahupua’a & watershed management, and marine science, as well as develop stewardship skills, gain hands-on experience conducting meaningful environmental conservation-based work, and deepen their understanding of science and Hawaiian culture. We look forward to hosting next year’s camp! Special thanks to NOAA for making this opportunity possible!
