Maunalua Makai Watch Volunteer Job Description

Volunteer Commitment: Flexible, minimum four hours per month for at least one year

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Participate in all sessions of the Maunalua Bay Makai Watch trainings as scheduled.
  2. Participate in Makai Watch activities on a monthly basis based on plans coordinated with the Maunalua Makai Watch Coordinator.
  3. Collect data on forms on a regular basis for submission to Mālama Maunalua.
  4. Maintain at least monthly contact with the Maunalua Makai Watch Coordinator.

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Dependability and good judgment
  2. Ability to follow written and oral directions carefully
  3. Ability to communicate well with a variety of people
  4. Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays
  5. Ability to be outside with exposure to the sun and inclement weather
  6. Ability to swim and snorkel in the ocean (if participating in water-based activities)
  7. Knowledge of the Maunalua Bay area’s culture and history and residence in the region (desirable)
  8. Access to e-mail and cell phone desirable
  9. Ability to speak English and other languages fluently desirable
