Mauka Watch
The Mālama Maunalua Mauka Watch program engages community volunteers in being active caretakers of the bay through stream water quality monitoring and other activities.
The Mauka Watch volunteer water quality monitoring program is designed in response to the major threats from polluted runoff and siltation to the coral reef and nearshore marine ecosystems of Maunalua Bay, Oahu. The parameters that will be monitored and the monitoring locations were selected based on recommendations from scientists studying the bay. The data collected through this program will provide a baseline for water quality in two priority watersheds and position the community to be able to document variations in water quality as well as changes over time.

Mauka Watch Volunteer Description
Volunteer Commitment: Flexible, average of four hours per month. 
PRIMARY DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND OPPORTUNITIES
- Participate in all sessions of the Mauka Watch monitoring trainings.
- Participate in Mauka Watch monitoring, on a monthly basis based on schedule coordinated with the Mauka Watch Field Coordinator.

Collect data on forms on a regular basis for submission to Mālama Maunalua.

Participate in enrichment activities (such as lectures, field trips, service projects, etc.)
